Clif Bar + Microwave = Healthy Treat/Snack!

Good morning everyone!

So, first of all, I am happy to announce that last night was the first GOOD night of sleep I’ve had in over a week! Woohoo! All week I had been waking up in the middle of the night around 1AM wide awake, and it was taking forever to get back to bed. Last night, I slept like a baby!

In fact, I slept so good that this morning when I woke up, I was acting like I was still asleep! I even told my Mom, “I really like to get my megs looving in the morning,” instead of saying “I really like to get my legs moving in the morning.” Haha, she started laughing and said that I’m starting to sound like her πŸ˜‰

After a short walk with my Mom and Noah, I had a Slim Down Smoothie for breakfast (Meal 1), but made it with Chai instead of water! Remember I said I was going to do this?

Well, it wasn’t a super strong Chai taste, but it was good! A nice little hint of Chai. I soaked the Chai Tea bag overnight and added it in the morning.

-1 Scoop of Vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup Chai tea, 1/2 cup ice, and a few shakes of cinnamon… oh, and just for fun, a 1/2 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice! Yummy πŸ™‚

After Meal 1, I went to the gym for a Step Class with my Dad. Got a great workout in! Love that 55 minutes of Cardio!

For Meal 2, I had a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar!

And don’t forget the Coffee, always Coffee with a treat like this! πŸ˜‰

Now for the trick!Β Heat your Clif Bar in the Microwave for 15 secondsΒ and it will taste like dessert! Eat it slowly with a fork, and enjoy every bite! So delicious!

Some sweet advice! β™₯

I have to share whatΒ @Mommyhoodto2Β Β (Jennifer) shared with me on Twitter. She is so amazing, and so sweet! She is such a great TIU member, who is always checking up on people, and encouraging everyone to be the best THEM that they can be. She even acknowledges in her blog, that everyone has different weight loss/gain/maintenance goals, and I love that!

Here is the advice she gave me that made me so happy… so sweet!

“Maybe go on a random trip? Or pour out into those around you. Love on those around you. Bless those around you.. Etc. Share God’s love w/ those around you. Through this heartache remember to choose joy, focus on all the positive & do things you can’t do when you’re in a relationship. Keep yourself busy and stay focused on knowing this IS God’s will!”

And just for fun, here is her About Me from her blog: (click on ‘blog’ to check it out)

I am a 30~Something Mama to 2 beautiful kids! After having kids and going through 2 pregnancies I have struggled with getting my Pre-Pregnancy Body Back and finding my Beauty again. I found Toneitup.com in July 2011 and have lost 25lbs in 5 months. I have gained a new confidence and want to help other girls, women and mamas find that inner Beauty and Confidence. We all have a different goal. Some may want to lose weight, gain weight, tone up, begin running or start up yoga. The list goes on, but we are ALL trying to achieve Confidence and Beauty throughout our journey. This is my journey in hopes of inspiring others to live a fit, clean and beauty~filled life.

Thank you Jennifer! I am lucky to now know you β™₯

Ending the 7 Day Slim Down a day early!

Hello everyone! Haven’t been able to check-in all day. I’ve been so busy! But good busy!

This morning, I woke and took Noah for a walk. We were gone about 35 minutes. It’s always nice to be outside in the morning! My favorite part is when there are other people out and you get to say “Good morning” as you pass by. That always brings a smile to my face, and starts my day off right!

After the walk, I came home and made the Slim Down Scramble, minus the tomato and salt. I missed the tomato!

A short while after breakfast, I had half a grapefruit with stevia.

I actually crave grapefruit now. Who woulda thought? I didn’t like it before!

Next, I got myself ready for a day spent with my Momma.

First, we stopped and got strawberries for my cousins baby shower tomorrow. We are bringing dark-chocolate covered strawberries! Yum! I can’t wait! πŸ™‚

The stand we stopped at was called Terry’s Berries. If you live in Ventura and are curious, this is the stand of Telephone Road, near Kimball. The strawberries were so yummy! A little bit pricier than the grocery store, but really delicious!

After that, my Mom and I did some shopping at Target, and then decided to grab some lunch.

For meal 3, I had a salad with chicken and balsamic from Urbane Cafe. Yes, very plain, but I wanted to stick to Day 6 as much as I could, because I am ending the 7 Day Slim Down early πŸ™‚

Why am I ending it early? Well, my reasoning for going on the 7DSD, was to give my body a break from eating any processed foods (plus, like a million girls on Tone It Up are doing it at the same time, and I just couldn’t pass it up!). I like to do this every once in a while, because it’s makes my body feel great, my mind feel good, and brings my taste-buds back to loving the most natural foods! It’s all a good thing for me, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.

Well, I feel perfectly satisfied with the amount that I have completed, and I am ending a day early so that I can enjoy my cousins baby shower tomorrow, chocolate dipped strawberries and all! πŸ™‚

I continued to stick to day 6 through Meal 4, and had a bowl of berries. This is actually a great little snack πŸ™‚

I stuck them in this container while they were frozen, and brought them with me babysitting tonight.

I also brought dinner (meal 5). This was not on the day 6 plan, so this is where I am ending πŸ™‚

This is low-sodium tomato soup, tofu, and spinach. I seasoned this with garlic powder, and “everyday seasoning” from Trader Joe’s.

I am super sensitive to sodium right now, and this definitely was LOW sodium! Haha, it lacked a little flavor, so I added a bit of lemon juice, and that did it for me. It gave it just the kick it needed πŸ™‚

And for my “dessert” (more fun to call it that, hehe) I had a chocolate ZICO water.

I picked this up at Fresh & Easy today ($1.99), along with a Pineapple one! Can’t wait to try the Pineapple tomorrow! Speaking of tomorrow, I am super excited for the whole day!

Just a little tip girls…Β when you’re going through any challenge in life (as I am right now), push yourself to get out of the house and do the things you love! I can’t tell you how much better I felt today (compared to this morning) as I went out and hungout with my Momma, did some shopping, and then played all night with the kids I babysat. It was so refreshing, and because of that I am filling up my day tomorrow also!

I am waking up early, taking Noah for a walk, going to Church at 8, then spending time with my friend Aubrey and her son Tyeson (going to coffee & shopping), and then I’m going to be with all of the women in my family for the celebration of my cousin Shannah’s baby boy who is on his way into this world!

It always feels good to do the things you love, so do them, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! You be YOU! Like Dr. Suess says, “Today you are you, that is truer than true, there is no one in the world who is youer than you!” This is one of my favorite quotes. It makes me happy πŸ™‚

Anyway, I will see you all back here in the morning! Enjoy your Saturday nights πŸ™‚

Day 5: 7 Day Slim Down (Meal 3, 4, & 5) + your Valentines Day treat(s)?

Hello Tumblies and Tone It Up Girls! Hope Day 5 is going great for you all!

This has been the easiest day by far of the 7 Day Slim Down!

For Meal 3 I had a pear (I also switched Meal 3 & 4… such a switch-a-roo-er)

For Meal 4, I had kale, spinach, green bell pepper, and tofu.

YUM! The tofu tasted so great because I have been overdosing on chicken lately! Haha, I seasoned it with Ceyenne pepper & red pepper flakes, my oh my! I love spicy so this was great!

The tomatoes on top added the perfect touch!

I used a tiny bit of water in the pan to let everything steam together. I put all the veggies and tofu in at the same time, and let them cook about 10 minutes or so over medium heat. Perfect! I drained the water before I added the seasoning too πŸ™‚

For Meal 5, I had asparagus, spinach, and chicken leftover from last nights dinner.

This was also so good! I never knew veggies and chicken could taste so good. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some variety, but for just one week, this is totally fine. I know come Valentines Day I’m getting myself some Chocolate πŸ˜‰

What are you going to treat yourself with on Valentines Day?Β

This was a MUST post. Add the word “Mornings” to this photo and I am complete.

I love my mornings, I love my coffee, and I love reading! This cuuuute picture makes me excited to get to bed just so I can wake up early and enjoy some time to myself!

Day 5: 7 Day Slim Down (Meal 1&2) + treated myself to a mani & pedi :)

Good afternoon every body! Hope you’re all doing well!

This morning, I woke up, took Noah for a short walk, got my coffee, and went off to the Gym with my Dad.

We did Step II this morning, and it was so much fun! It’s seriously like a dance class where you just get to act goofy (I do), smile (I do), and have time to yourself (even though you’re surrounded by others). It feels like you’re doing something good, and fun, for yourself πŸ™‚

For my Meal 1, I had Grapefruit, all cut up with stevia (I switched M1 & M2 again)

Look! A strawberry! We grow them in our backyard, and they don’t even compare to the ones you can buy at the store.

Ah.. sooo good & sweet!

After the gym, I came home and made the Slim Down scramble into an omelet. Wanted to change things up a bit!

So tasty! Most of the girls like the protein pancake better, but I think I enjoy this one just as much!

After breakfast, I went and met my friend and got a manicure and pedicure.

I felt really awkward posting a picture of my toes (haha) but they’re really BRIGHT pink!

They make me happy!

Anyways, I am feeling soo good today! I’ve got tons of energy! I am just about to go pick up Griffin, and after that I am going to come home and make some lunch. See you back there then πŸ™‚

Day 4: 7 Day Slim Down (Meal 2-5) and a big THANK YOU!

Good evening everyone! Wow! You guys are showing the love today!

Before I write ANYTHING, I want to THANK EACH and every one of you! I greatly appreciate all the sharing, the comments, the new followers, the little notes… everything! You guys are honestly making me so happy! So,Β THANK YOU!

For Meal 2 today, I had half a grapefruit with stevia

This is the stevia that I use- but I hear Truvia is better, so I am probably going to make a switch!

Thanks to my Tone It Up girls for the recommendation! πŸ™‚

For Meal 3, I had salad with chicken and tomatoes, celery, and an apple with cinnamon!

To get the cinnamon all over the apple, I put a tiny spoonful of apple juice in the container to shake it around. It gave it a yummy flavor, and really helped to spread the cinnamon evenly!

I used the leftover 4oz of chicken that I had from my dinner last night.

Leftovers are AWESOME for dieting by the way! Makes things so convenient!

For Meal 4, I had a Slim Down smoothie! Almond milk, protein powder, water, ice and cinnamon.

Yea, have you ever thought of putting cinnamon in your protein drink? Hmm… maybe it is comparable to a Chai… WAIT! Just got such a great idea!

Okay, so next time I make this, I am going to let a chai tea bag sit in the water FIRST, and then add the Tea to the smoothie!Β Maybe it will be a new healthy Chai?!

For Meal 5, my SWEET Mama, who also bought me a Coffee Bean giftcard today, made us all dinner!

And she made it Tone It Up friendly! Now, I have heard a girl on twitter talking about how her Mom is their best cheerleader (HiΒ Krystina– click name to follow her on twitter! She’s on a healthy journey too!), and this made me feel just the same! My Mom even went on my BootyCall walk with me this morning! Awesome!

And I need to thank my boyfriend too, because he’s going on another walk with me tonight! I am way too exhausted today, for a full blown, high intensity workout.

I already did some floor exercises, and the two 30/40 minute walks today will make me feel great!

Speaking of my boyfriend… look who’s gum I sat in! πŸ˜‰

Thanks Darling! πŸ˜‰ Haha, we got it off though. Phew! I told him (jokingly of course) that for Valentines Day he was getting a new pair of Lulu yoga pants… that I would be wearing! Haha πŸ™‚

Okay loves, well, I am off to go for a walk and hangout with my honey! I wish you all a great night, and I will see you here in the morning for DAY 5! Can you believe it’s already here?! Wow!

Day 4: 7 Day Slim Down (Meal 1) + Lululemon cute tank!

Good morning tumblies and Tone It Up girls! Hope you all slept well!

I have found myself dreaming about Tone It Up, every night! Do you guys dream about it? Haha, It’s been my life this week! But, I love it!

For Meal 1 today, I had the Slim Down Scramble. I feel a little weak today, so I am making sure to drink lots of water, and add in extra veggies. I even put an extra egg-white for the protein.

I skipped the gym class this morning, because I just can’t hang today!

I went for a 40 minute walk this morning with my Mom instead, and I am going to do 30 minutes of some kind of cardio this evening. Haven’t decided what kind yet.

Okay, so you know how I talked about having a “Prize at the end of your path?”

Well, I am considering thisΒ Practice Freely Lululemon tankΒ to be it! It’s so adorable, and looks so comfortable! My kinda top!

What do you guys think?

Day 3: 7 Day Slim Down (Meal 3, 4 & 5)

Well, good evening everyone! How has your day been?

Today is Day 3 on my 7 Day Slim Down Challenge! Today has by far been the easiest for me! I have been way less hungry!

Surprising, because I did that gnarly class this morning! Hmm…?

Anyways, for Meal #3, I had a salad with arugula, spring mix, broccoli, and chicken seasoned with the same balsamic that I used to dress my salad. I also used a tbs. of olive oil this time (that gave so much flavor!)

This was soo good, because it made the chicken super tender and moist!

Also for M3, I had one small green apple. I snacked on this while I was cooking, because I was pretty hungry πŸ˜‰

For Meal 4, I had 2 cups of veggies and hummus! I chose to have celery and cucumber. Yum!

I honestly have never had celery and hummus before, and I’m happy to say it’s delicious! I always have PB with my celery. This is way healthier! I’m excited! πŸ™‚

For Meal 5, or dinner, I had salmon, spinach, and asparagus.

Okay, HELLO! This was the best meal yet! We had marinated salmon in the freezer, and since I was supposed to add salt to this meal, I just chose the marinated instead, and didn’t add any extra salt. IT. WAS. SO. GOOD!

The spinach and asparagus was also amazing! I seasoned them both with olive oil (just a tsp.) and 21 seasoning salute, and garlic powder. I also drank 30oz of water with this meal, and recommended by today’s plan. Can you say filling!? I am SO satisfied!

Now, I am babysitting (sleeping baby), drinking my Chamomile Tea w/ cinnamon, blogging, tweeting, facebooking, everything social-networking, and about to look online at the Under Armour stuff, because Karena & Katrina make it look so dang good!

Anyways, love you guys! Still loving my Tone It Up team!Β If you readers have questions about Tone It Up, feel free to ask! I’d love to share!Β
